Building Services in Caerphilly

Everything below is carried out by LFB Contractors' own team, on one programme, with one point of contact. If your job spans several of these — and most do — it is still a single quote and a single schedule.

House Renovations in Caerphilly

A renovation is the point where a house stops fighting you. Rooms that were dark get light, layouts that never worked get opened up, and the tired services behind the walls get replaced before they fail. We take on whole-house renovations across Caerphilly and the surrounding valleys, and we run them as a single job rather than a string of separate trades you have to chase.

That matters more than it sounds. The most common reason a renovation drags on is that nobody owns the programme — the plasterer arrives before the first fix is done, the kitchen turns up a fortnight before the floor is ready. We sequence the trades ourselves, so the site stays busy and the work lands in the right order.

We have taken on houses that needed everything from the ground to the roof, including properties where previous builders walked away mid-job. If you have bought somewhere that looked like it needed decorating and turned out to need far more, that is a conversation worth having early.

  • Full strip-outs, including properties previously botched by others
  • Structural alterations, new floors, joinery and plastering
  • First and second-fix carpentry, electrics and plumbing coordinated
  • Decoration and snagging finished before we hand the keys back

House Refurbishment in Caerphilly

Refurbishment is the lighter-touch cousin of a full renovation: the layout largely stays, but everything you see and touch gets brought back up to standard. New plaster, new floors, new doors and architrave, fresh decoration, and the small repairs that have been quietly annoying you for years.

We do a lot of this work for landlords and for owners preparing a property for sale, where the deadline is real and the budget is finite. Both of those want the same thing from a builder — a price that holds, a date that holds, and a site left clean at the end of every day.

We will always quote before we start, and we will tell you where your money makes the most difference. Sometimes that is not the thing you first asked about.

  • Single rooms, whole floors, or the complete property
  • Landlord and pre-sale refurbishments worked to a fixed programme
  • Replastering, flooring, joinery, tiling and decoration
  • Clear, itemised quotations before anything starts

Extensions in Caerphilly

An extension is the biggest single thing most people will have done to their house, and it is where the difference between a builder and a bloke with a van shows up fastest. Footings have to be dug and inspected properly. Steels have to be sized, supported and fire-protected. The roof has to tie into the existing one without becoming the leak you spend the next decade chasing.

We build single and two-storey extensions, rear extensions and side returns, and we take them right through to a finished room — plastered, decorated, floored and ready to use. Building control inspects the work at the stages it should, and we arrange those visits rather than leaving them to you.

We also get called in partway through other people's extensions, usually to install the steels and close the structure back up. If a project has stalled on you, ring us — it is more common than you would think, and it is usually fixable.

  • Footings, blockwork, steels and roof structure
  • Knock-throughs and open-plan kitchen-diners
  • Coordinated with your building control inspector
  • Finished internally, not left as a shell

Garage Conversions in Caerphilly

A garage conversion is usually the cheapest square metre you will ever add to a house, because the walls and roof are already there. The work is in everything you cannot see afterwards: getting the floor up to level and insulated, dealing with damp at the threshold, and making sure the new room holds heat as well as the rest of the house does.

We block up the garage door, form new openings where they are needed, insulate throughout, and run the heating, lighting and power in as part of the job. Done properly, the finished room should not announce itself as a former garage — matching the external brickwork and the internal finishes is part of the work, not an extra.

Home offices, utility rooms, playrooms, extra bedrooms and gyms are all common. Tell us what you want to use it for and we will tell you what it needs.

  • Insulated floors, walls and roof to current standards
  • New openings formed and existing doors blocked up
  • Heating, lighting and sockets run in properly
  • Finished so it reads as part of the house, not a converted garage

Kitchens & Bathrooms in Caerphilly

Kitchens and bathrooms are the two rooms where a bad job is visible every single day. They are also the two rooms where most of the cost sits behind the units — in the floor that needed levelling, the wall that was never square, and the waste run that had to be rerouted.

Because we are builders rather than fitters, we can take the wall out, move the soil pipe or widen the opening as part of the same job. That usually works out faster and cheaper than having a fitter discover the problem and stop.

We handle the full sequence: strip-out, first fix, plastering, tiling, installation and decoration, with the site cleaned down at the end of each day. Customers consistently pick out clean, tidy working as the thing they noticed most.

  • Complete strip-out, first fix, tiling and installation
  • Walls removed or openings widened where the layout needs it
  • Plumbing and electrical work coordinated as part of the job
  • Tiling, flooring and decoration finished to match

Structural Alterations in Caerphilly

Taking out a load-bearing wall is not a job to guess at. It needs a structural engineer's calculation, a correctly sized beam, padstones that can carry the load, and temporary support set up before anything is cut. Get any of those wrong and the consequences are structural rather than cosmetic.

We install RSJs and form new openings as a standalone job or as part of a wider renovation. We arrange the engineer's calculations, notify building control, and make sure the beam is properly bearing and fire-protected before the ceiling goes back up.

This is one of the jobs we are most often called in to rescue — where another company has started an opening and could not finish it. We can usually get a steel in and the structure closed back up quickly.

  • Load-bearing walls removed and steels installed
  • Structural engineer's calculations arranged
  • Temporary support (Acrows and needles) set correctly
  • Openings closed up, plastered and finished

Roofing & External Work in Caerphilly

Most roof problems are found late, because the first sign is a stain on a ceiling that has been getting worse quietly for months. By then the felt, the batten and sometimes the plaster below have all taken water.

We repair and replace tiled and slate roofs, re-felt and re-batten, replace dry verges and ridges, and fit fascias, soffits and guttering. Flat roofs — including conservatory and extension roofs that were never right in the first place — are a regular job for us.

External work does not stop at the roof. Rendering, repointing, and the tidy-up of brickwork after an extension all fall to us as part of the same job.

  • Tiled and slate roof repairs and full re-roofs
  • Flat roofs, including conservatory and extension roofs
  • Fascias, soffits, cladding and guttering
  • Leadwork, dry verges, ridges and re-felting

Driveways & Landscaping in Caerphilly

Gardens are where a builder's groundwork shows. Paving laid on a poor sub-base moves within a couple of winters; a retaining wall without drainage behind it does not last. We dig out and build up properly before anything visible goes down.

We lay driveways, patios and porcelain paving, build retaining walls and steps, install fencing and decking, and put up garden rooms and outbuildings on a proper base. Complete garden transformations — where the whole space gets re-levelled and re-planned — are some of our most enjoyable jobs.

If you are not sure what you want, that is fine. A lot of our landscaping customers start with a rough idea and we work the design up with them.

  • Driveways, patios and porcelain paving
  • Retaining walls, steps and levelling
  • Fencing, decking and garden rooms
  • Full garden makeovers designed and built
